Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 30 March 2026 | Effective: 30 March 2026
1. Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) applies to all software, services, and infrastructure operated by the 8GI Foundation (“we”, “us”), including but not limited to: 8gent Code, 8gent OS, 8gent App, 8gent Jr, 8gent World, 8gent Games, and 8gent Telegram. By using any 8gent product, you agree to this policy.
2. Permitted Use
You may use 8gent products to:
- Write, review, debug, and deploy software
- Learn, experiment, and build personal projects
- Run autonomous coding agents on your own infrastructure
- Integrate with third-party services via MCP, APIs, and extensions
- Use locally-hosted AI models with no data leaving your machine
- Build commercial products using 8gent as a development tool
- Modify and redistribute under the terms of the Apache 2.0 License
3. Prohibited Use
You must NOT use 8gent products to:
- Generate malware, exploits, or attack tools. This includes ransomware, rootkits, phishing kits, credential stealers, or any software designed to compromise systems without authorisation.
- Perform unauthorised access. Do not use 8gent agents to probe, scan, or exploit systems you do not own or have explicit permission to test.
- Harass, surveil, or harm individuals. This includes generating content designed to defame, threaten, stalk, or discriminate against any person.
- Generate CSAM or exploit children. Any use involving the sexual exploitation of minors will result in immediate termination and reporting to authorities. Zero tolerance. No exceptions.
- Circumvent safety systems. Do not attempt to bypass NemoClaw policy gates, ToolG8 middleware, or any security controls built into 8gent products.
- Impersonate the 8GI Foundation. Do not represent your project as officially endorsed by or affiliated with 8GI without written permission.
- Spam or abuse shared infrastructure. Do not use 8gent vessels, the Eight daemon, or cloud sync services for cryptocurrency mining, DDoS amplification, or bulk unsolicited messaging.
- Violate applicable law. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with all local, national, and international laws.
4. 8gent Jr - Additional Protections
8gent Jr is designed for neurodivergent children. Additional rules apply:
- All data stays on-device. No cloud processing of children’s data unless explicitly enabled by a parent or guardian.
- No advertising, tracking, or behavioural profiling of children.
- No collection of biometric data (voice prints, facial recognition) from children without parental consent.
- Compliance with COPPA (US), GDPR Article 8 (EU), and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code is mandatory.
- Parents and guardians have full access to all data their child’s 8gent instance has stored.
5. Security Responsibilities
- Keep your API keys, tokens, and credentials secure. 8gent will never ask you to paste secrets in chat.
- Report security vulnerabilities to security@8gent.world or via GitHub Security Advisories.
- Do not disable NemoClaw policies in production environments serving other users.
- If you discover a vulnerability in 8gent, practise responsible disclosure. Do not exploit it.
6. Open Source and Attribution
- 8gent Code is licensed under Apache 2.0. You must retain the license and copyright notice in redistributions.
- Contributions to 8GI Foundation repositories are governed by the 8gent Constitution.
- Modified versions must be clearly marked as modified and must not use the 8gent name or branding without permission.
7. Enforcement
Violations of this AUP may result in:
- Suspension or termination of access to 8gent cloud services (vessels, sync, model proxy).
- Revocation of guild membership and founding circle status.
- Reporting to law enforcement where illegal activity is involved.
- Public disclosure of the violation where necessary to protect the community.
We will always attempt to contact you before taking enforcement action, except in cases involving child safety, active exploitation, or imminent harm.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced via the 8gent World blog and the 8GI Foundation Discord. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
